Minimal prep required. Ensure the piece is clean.
For some pieces that are reddish in colour or the Balinese style, you may need to undercoat/seal the piece first to prevent bleed through (a yellowy colour comes through the paint), especially if you are painting white or a light colour. We use the L'essentiel BOTANICS Crystal Clear Topcoat, as it contains tannin blockers which are designed to prevent any bleed through.
When painting with BOTANICS Furniture Paint, you will quickly notice a little goes a very long way. The paint glides on smoothly, to reduce brush stroke marks once you have painted a section try to avoid going back over it. We have found that most pieces only need 2-3 thin coats to get a beautiful finish.
The paint is fast drying and often touch dry in an hour or two when recoating can occur.
Because BOTANICS Furniture Paint is water-based clean-up is as easy as washing your brushes in soap and water.
You will need to seal BOTANICS Furniture Paint with a wax or top coat sealer. This will add depth and character giving a range of gorgeous finishes to the paint. It also acts as a protection to your paint work. Check out the waxes and top coat sealers.
